Self-host license

What you can do with Kinjot Self-host.

LAST UPDATED · OCTOBER 12, 2026

1 · This license

This license is the agreement between you and Kinjot for Kinjot Self-host. You accept it when you buy a Self-host license key, or when you download, install or use the Software. If you don’t accept it, don’t do those things. If you accept it for an organisation, you confirm you can bind it. Our Terms of service also apply; where they conflict about the Software, this license wins.

2 · The Software

“The Software” means everything Kinjot delivers to you under your license key: the web app, the database migrations, the server functions and their shared code, configuration, email templates, release data, and every update. It includes the copy of the web app Kinjot serves at byo.kinjot.com. The deployment template on GitHub is separate. Its MIT License covers only the template’s own setup and update tools, never the Software they download.

3 · What you may do

You may download, install and run the Software for use by one person, the operator, on infrastructure you control, and use the copy Kinjot serves at byo.kinjot.com. You may link one deployment at a time to your key, and move that link. You may keep the copies you need to run, back up and restore it, and configure it for your own hosting and providers. Updates are included for the life of the Self-host product at no recurring charge.

4 · What you may not do

Unless we agree in writing, you may not share, publish, sell, rent or lend the Software or your license key; host the Software for anyone else or offer it as a service; copy its code into another product; remove or change Kinjot’s name, logo or notices, or present the Software as someone else’s; or get around the license-key check on downloads and updates. Laws that let you study how software works, or reverse engineer it for interoperability, still apply.

5 · Keep the code confidential

The Software’s source code is confidential. Keep it in private repositories and storage, and share it only with people who help you run your deployment and keep it confidential too.

6 · Ownership

Kinjot owns the Software and all rights in it. You get a license, not ownership. Your notes are yours, and we can’t see a self-hosted deployment.

7 · Your deployment

You run your deployment: its Supabase project, hosting, provider keys and charges, backups, migrations, security and data, as section 6 of our Terms of service describes.

8 · Ending the license

The license ends if you get a refund, or if you breach it and don’t fix the breach within 30 days of our notice, or at once if the breach can’t be fixed, such as publishing the code. When it ends, stop using the Software and delete your copies. A disabled key also stops downloads and updates.

9 · Transfers

You can’t transfer this license or your key without our written consent, unless a law you can’t contract out of lets you.

10 · No warranty

The Software is provided as is, without warranties, to the extent the law allows. Kinjot isn’t liable for indirect or consequential losses, and its total liability under this license is limited to what you paid for it. Nothing here limits rights you have under consumer law that can’t be excluded.

11 · Changes and contact

If we change this license, the new version applies to releases published after the change; releases you already have stay under the version you accepted. Questions: [email protected].
